Yesterday the Lynchburg News & Advance, a paper skewed to the right, hence Lynchburg, came out with an editorial chiding Rep. Perriello. With serpentine-like logical cohesion, the editorial staff is "heartened" by the potential rematch between Perriello and former Congressman Goode in the next election. Their thinking goes, if Goode enters in the race, Perriello will have to vote more honestly. Of course, to further argue their point, Rep. Perriello is the most vulnerable incumbent EVER, nevermind their erroneous data interpretation therein (read: Obama coattails!). But, like magnanimous soothesayers, they offer advice for Tom, because he is already beholden to the "bright lights" of Washington. Perriello should stand with small business (read: vote against the Employee Free Choice Act) and should become a Blue Dog fiscal conservative (read: never, ever side with Pelosi and the liberals). The end.
This is the same newspaper that defended Perriello against the vicious NRCC attack ads. Go figure.

Again with the Obama coattails. When are folks going to learn that when Guy X outperforms Guy Y in nearly every county in the area, Guy Y is not the one with the coattails.
If you want coattails in the last election, look to Mark Warner, who Rep. Perriello himself once described as "walking on water" in the eyes of the constituency. Or look to the hard-working volunteers and staff of the campaign all over the District, sweating blood to get Perriello where he rightly should be.
I read it and laughed, not gonna lie.
This is hopeful ploys to see if they can skew the logic to its break point. The message is "If Rep. Perriello votes our way, it is because he is trying to please the Goode people. And if he does not vote our way (the true way?) then he will be defeated by former Rep. Goode."
Problem with their logic is that this dog won't hunt. Rep. Perriello won the race based on not being former Rep. Goode. He won the hearts and minds of the ordinary folk, like me, who are tired of the prejudice and corporate management over worker views.
Get over it Lynchburgers, a new day dawned and it is time to open your eyes. Rep Perriello has sponsored a bill to force AIG executives to return their million dollar bonuses. He stood up against those that would restrict hunting and fishing on public lands. He is doing what former Rep. Goode did not do, he is getting relief for we vets. Bottom line, he is representing us the way we wish to be represented. Next time around there will be at least one more vote for Mr. Perriello because he did what he said he would do, "work a double shift to represent our values."
Vigil, I didn't think I would ever say it, but we are better off without you.
Thank you Anonymous for this comment. Sounds like you are paying very close attention to Congressman Perriello. I appreciate that.
And I think you are dead on with the News & Advance message: "If Rep. Perriello votes our way, it is because he is trying to please the Goode people. And if he does not vote our way (the true way?) then he will be defeated by former Rep. Goode." Kinda manipulative isn't it?
