Deeds and Moran on Pay-day Lending

The other day, gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe stated that he would ban the pay-day and car title lending institutions in Virginia if elected. His primary opponents, Creigh Deeds and Brian Moran, yesterday echoed the sentiment. From the Richmond Times-Dispatch:

Through press secretary Brooke Borkenhagen, Deeds signaled his support for closing the state to cash stores and related lenders.

"When Terry was doing his out-of-state fundraisers, Creigh was in the Senate, working on this issue," Borkenhagen said.

Jesse Ferguson, Moran's spokesman, said: "Brian has been, and continues to be, an opponent of the payday-lending industry."

If their communication director's statements can be understood unequivocally, I am pleased that there is a consensus among the Democratic candidates on this issue.
